After delimitation, Haldia is a new assembly constituency of Purba Midnapur since 2011.
In 2021 state assembly elections, Tapasi Mondal of BJP defeated his nearest rival Swapan Naskar of AITC and won the Haldia assembly seat. Tapasi Mondal got 104,126 votes and Swapan Naskar got 89,118 votes.
In 2016 state assembly elections, Tapasi Mondal of CPI (M) defeated his nearest rival Madhurima Mondal of INTC and won the Haldia assembly seat.
In 2011 state assembly elections, Seuli Saha of Trinamool Congress defeated his nearest rival Nityananda Bera of CPI (M) and won the Haldia assembly seat.
