Please note, the Honours and Elective subjects must not be identical. The Honours and Elective subjects must not be from the same Group.

B.A. GENERAL
Loreto College offers B.A. General Courses with any THREE Electives of which two are Core Electives and one Generic Elective (studied over 2 Semesters only): :
The two Core Electives offered are CC-1Education and CC-2History / Political Science/ English one Generic Elective is to be selected from :Hindi / Bengali / Journalism & Mass Commuication
*Please note, Psychology Honours cannot be taken if the applicant did not have Psychology/Pure Mathematics/Biology as a subject at the Plus Two level (Class XII level). Elective Psychology can be taken only if the applicant had Psychology in Class XII.
*Please note, Elective Geography can be taken only if the applicant had Geography in Class XII.
The Medium of Instruction in this college is English hence the ability to communicate in English is necessary Kindly note: All Lectures at Loreto College are in English. Hence, fluency in English is very essential for a student to be able to understand/follow classes. The student must also be able to express herself freely in English to enable her to do well in her written work/viva voce. This applies to all subjects except Hindi and Bengali.
A Pass in the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in FOUR recognized subjects of which one should be English
Students from Edexcel (London), CIE (Cambridge) and IB Boards and other countries may also apply. However, if they do not have their final score sheet only provisional admission will be granted to them.
A candidate who has passed H.S. (10+2) Examination or its equivalent Examination in 2017 or after, is eligible to seek admission to the 1st year B.A./B.Sc. Courses of Studies provided she has also passed an English Paper with full marks not being less than 100
Marks in Compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject 'Environmental Science' is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
Students from a Pure Science background may also apply for any subject, provided they had a related subject at H.S / ISC / CBSE Examinations.
